Another day with Tim’s ’76 BOSS 2.3l 4g63t Galant. Today was spent removing the interior in preperation of the modification to the the firewall and transmission tunnel for the new R154 transmission with custom R154 bell housing. It’s always amazing what you find during a disassembly in a car this old, from the ancient match packs to the things no longer moving … or moving, lol. Everything was stripped away today, and if not salvageable, was tossed and the rest put aside for restoration.

The R154 bell housing will be shipped back this week in exchange for an updated version, and the remainder of parts will be ordered before cutting on the Galant begins. Thus far we’ve really got a great platform that we’re able to work with visually, and this project should resume shortly. Currently the Galant is sitting aggressively with the new Toyota rear end, giving it a teaser of some nice squat on the back end. Stay tuned for more updates!
